We were commissioned to fabricate a 24ft countertop for Eddie Rocket’s new fast food restaurant, Rocket’s, located in Dun Laoghaire. The interior designer specified a distressed raw grey finish for the concrete to fit in with the industrial design aesthetic of the restaurant.

The finish was achieved using an eco-friendly raw cement base. Using specially designed concrete mixes, we made the concrete super light-weight with a 100mm thick edge profile. We used various techniques to exaggerate the naturally occurring ‘bug holes’ (surface voids created by pockets of trapped air). The concrete was lightly polished and sealed using a high-grade food safe sealer that lasts forever with little to no maintenance.
